We are delighted to introduce “Heatwave’ – a recording of music composed exclusively by British composers for the trio combination of Flute, Oboe and Piano.
Alongside several premiere recordings of works by major composers and also little known gems by unjustly neglected composers, we include the world premiere recording of ‘Heatwave’ by Iain Farrington. Iain was featured prominently on international TV as the counterfoil to Mr Bean at the opening ceremony of the 2012 London Olympics.
As a trio, we commissioned Iain to write this substantial, characterful work and it is already well on the way to becoming an essential contribution to the repertoire for this combination of instruments. It has since been published by Aria Editions.
We also include premiere recordings of original works by Sir Michael Tippett, William Mathias, Geoffrey Robbins and Frederick Delius (arranged under the composer’s direction by his amanuensis Eric Fenby).
To compliment these distinctive and evocative pieces, we also feature well-loved music by popular British composers Sir Malcolm Arnold and Madeleine Dring.
